Van Morrison & Tom Jones – Carrying a Torch
Apr 1, 2012 Oldies Music
“Carrying a Torch” was originally released on Van’s 1991 double album, Hymns to the Silence. Tom Jones covered the song on his album Carrying a Torch, which was named after this song. This version of the song was released as a single and charted at #57 in 1991 in the UK. This collaboration came about when Morrison showed his newly written song “Carrying a Torch” to Jones, who was “so impressed that he invited Morrison to play on his new record”. Morrison wrote, played on and produced four tracks that appeared on Jones’ album. Rolling Stone magazine reviewer Elysa Gardner praised the song, saying that it “has the makings of a classic, with a stately chorus and shining verses that tie the flesh to the spirit: ‘You’re the keeper of the flame/And you burn so bright/Baby why don’t we re-connect/Move into the light’.” Copyright EMI

Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison. Lyrics:Have I told you lately that I love you Have I told you there’s no one above you Fill my heart with gladness Take away my sadness Ease my troubles, that’s what you do Oh the morning sun in all its glory Greets the day with hope and comfort too And you fill my life with laughter You can make it better Ease my troubles that’s what you do There’s a love that’s divine And it’s yours and it’s mine Like the sun at the end of the day We should give thanks and pray to the One Have I told you lately that I love you Have I told you there’s no one above you Fill my heart with gladness Take away my sadness Ease my troubles, that’s what you do There’s a love that’s divine And it’s yours and it’s mine And it shines like the sun At the end of the day we will give thanks And pray to the One Have I told you lately that I love you Have I told you there’s no one above you Fill my heart with gladness Take away my sadness Ease my troubles, that’s what you do Take away my sadness Fill my life with gladness Ease my troubles that’s what you do Fill my life with gladness Take away my sadness Ease my troubles that’s what you do.

Days Like This by Van Morrison. Lyrics: When it’s not always raining there’ll be days like this When there’s noone complaining there’ll be days like this Everything falls into phase like the flick of a switch Well my momma told me there’ll be days like this When you don’t need to worry there’ll be days like this When noone’s in a hurry there’ll be days like this When you don’t get betrayed by that old Judas kiss Oh my momma told me there’ll be days like this When you don’t need an answer there’ll be days like this When you don’t meet a chancer there’ll be days like this When all the parts of the puzzle start to look like they fit Then I must remember there’ll be days like this When everyone is upfront and they’re not playing tricks When you don’t have no freeloaders out to get their kicks in When it’s nobody’s business the way that you wanna live I just have to remember there’ll be days like this When noone steps on my dreams there’ll be days like this When people understand what I mean there’ll be days like this When you bring out the changes of how everything is Well my momma told me there’ll be days like this Oh my momma told me there’ll be days like this Well my momma told me there’ll be days like this Oh my momma told me there’ll be days like this Oh my momma told me there’ll be days like this

Gloria – Van Morrison
Mar 6, 2012 Oldies Music
Van Morrison, OBE (born George Ivan Morrison; 31 August 1945) is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and musician. His live performances at their best are regarded as transcendental[1][2][3] and inspired;[4][5][6] while some of his recordings, such as the studio albums Astral Weeks and Moondance, and the live album It’s Too Late to Stop Now, are widely viewed as among the greatest ever made.[7][8][9] Known as “Van the Man” to his fans,[10] Morrison started his professional career when, as a teenager in the late 1950s, he played a variety of instruments including guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone for various Irish showbands covering the popular hits of the day. He rose to prominence in the mid-1960s as the lead singer of the Northern Irish R&B band Them, with whom he recorded the garage band classic “Gloria”. His solo career began under the pop-hit oriented guidance of Bert Berns with the release of the hit single “Brown Eyed Girl” in 1967. After Berns’ death, Warner Bros. Records bought out his contract and allowed him three sessions to record Astral Weeks in 1968.[11] Even though this album would gradually garner high praise, it was initially poorly received; however, the next one, Moondance, established Morrison as a major artist,[12] and throughout the 1970s he built on his reputation with a series of critically acclaimed albums and live performances. Morrison continues to record and tour, producing albums and live performances that sell well and are generally …
