“Unchained Melody” is the only song that my dad has requested for me to sing, since my mom passed into our Lord God’s Kingdom in Heaven, on August 9, 1999. It’s the perfect reflection for the state of my dad’s heart. So, of course, since I began this YouTube journey, dad has continually asked me when I was going to sing “Unchained Melody” for him. I all ready knew, from the beginning of this singing adventure, that “Unchained Melody” was going to be dedicated for one of two occasions: my parents’ 43rd Wedding Anniversary, or for the 11th year Memorial of my mom’s passing into our Lord God’s Kingdom in Heaven. Unfortunately, very early in this journey, when my dad had made his request, I had to pretend that I didn’t know when I’d get a chance to work on it. Even though, I had all ready tried several times. My dad is persistent. After several weeks, I had to finally confess that I had been working on his song, but with little success. At first, he couldn’t understand why I was having a hard time. I explained that I just couldn’t hit those high notes anymore. Yes, the high notes are troublesome, but that was not the root of my disappointment with my efforts. This was another emotional ride for me. The first two times I tried to sing “Unchained Melody”, knowing that this was a tribute for my mom and dad, I couldn’t get through the song without crying. It was just too difficult. I took a break from my efforts and when I finally came back to it, I was determined to do this well …

Question by Daydream Believer: Need Help With Lyrics To A Righteous Brothers Song, Please?
In the early 1970′s The Righteous Brothers recorded a song called Rock And Roll Heaven. In the mid to late 1990′s they did another, updated version of this wonderful song. Same sweet melody but with Roy Orbison, Ricky Nelson, Jerry Garcia, Freddy Mercury & Kurt Cobain to name a few. Could you please help me find the lyrics and the link to those lyrics? It was lovely as the first and I once had the CD single which has been stolen. I can’t find it or the lyrics anywhere. Thank you for your help.

The Righteous Brothers – “Ebb Tide” (1965)

The Righteous Brothers were the musical duo of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield. They recorded from 1963 through 1975, and continued to perform until Hatfield’s death in 2003. Their emotive vocal stylings were sometimes dubbed “blue-eyed soul”. Medley and Hatfield both possessed exceptional vocal talent, with range, control and tone that helped them create a strong and distinctive duet sound and also to perform as soloists. Medley sang the low parts with his deep, soulful bass, with Hatfield taking the higher register vocals with his soaring tenor. They adopted their name in 1962 while performing together in the Los Angeles area as part of a five-member group called The Paramours., which featured John Wimber, one of the founders of the Vineyard Movement, on keyboards. At the end of one particular performance, a Marine in the audience shouted, “That was righteous, brothers!”, prompting the pair to adopt the name when they embarked on a career as a duo. John Wimber (then as Johnny Wimber) brought Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley together for the band the Paramours in 1962. The Righteous Brothers started their recording career on the small Moonglow label in 1963 with two albums and two moderate hits: “Little Latin Lupe Lu” and “My Babe”. Their first major hit single was “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” on the Philles label in 1965. It is one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, by some counts having spawned over 500 versions in hundreds of different languages, and i did think about doing a version in Romania, just for youtube – but it’s too nice to spoil !
